Severe or Sudden Tooth Pain
"Call us first. We will tell you what to do before you even get here."
Pain that throbs, wakes you at night, or does not respond to over-the-counter painkillers usually means infection or an exposed nerve. This will not settle on its own and it gets more expensive the longer it is left.
Knocked-Out or Broken Tooth
Handle a knocked-out tooth by the crown only, never the root. Keep it moist in milk or your own saliva and get to us within 30 minutes if you possibly can. A tooth replaced quickly can often be saved.

Not everything needs a same-day visit, and we would rather tell you honestly than have you take time off work unnecessarily. Call us if any of the following apply:
- Tooth pain severe enough to disturb sleep or not respond to painkillers.
- A tooth knocked out, broken or badly chipped.
- Swelling of the gum, face or jaw, which can signal infection.
- A lost filling or crown leaving a sharp or sensitive tooth.
- Bleeding that does not stop, or an injury to the mouth after an accident.

What To Do Before You Reach Us
- Call us before you set off. We can advise you on the phone and prepare for your arrival.
- For a knocked-out tooth: hold it by the crown, rinse gently with milk or saliva, never scrub it, and bring it with you.
- For swelling: apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek for 15 minutes at a time.
- For a lost filling or crown: keep the piece if you have it and avoid chewing on that side.
- For bleeding: apply firm pressure with clean gauze for 10 minutes without lifting to check.
- Take over-the-counter pain relief as directed on the packet, but do not place aspirin directly against the gum.

Stop the Pain
Local anaesthetic and immediate relief come first. We will not begin any assessment while you are in significant pain.
Find the Cause
A targeted x-ray shows whether the problem is decay, a crack, an abscess or a failing restoration. Guessing costs you money.
Treat It the Same Day
Most emergencies are resolved in the same visit, whether that means a filling, a root canal, a re-cemented crown or an extraction. Anything requiring more time is stabilised and scheduled.
Follow-Up Care
You leave with clear aftercare instructions, and we book any follow-up before you go so nothing is left half-finished.

Yes. We keep time available each day for urgent cases and offer same-day treatment for genuine dental emergencies. Our offices are open Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm, Friday 8am to 2pm in Edinburg and 8am to 1pm in Donna. We are closed at weekends, so please call during opening hours. If you are having difficulty breathing or swallowing, or have had a serious facial injury, go to the emergency room rather than a dental office.
It depends entirely on what is wrong, which is why we x-ray first and quote before we begin. We accept most insurances including CHIP and Medicaid, and offer financing through CareCredit, Wisetack and Cherry if the treatment is more involved. You will know the cost before any work starts.
